Looking Up

A series of work honouring old and new London. The making of these images aims to remind of the importance of 'Looking Up' in an urban environment by using elements in the London lexicon of buildings, both familiar and unfamiliar.

EDME

Joint project with artist Rosemary Masson - www.rosemarymasson.eu

We were intrigued by the the "Gormenghastic" nature of the iconic Victorian Architecture and Engineering triumphs on the 4 1/2 acre site where EDME (formerly The English Diastatic Malt Extract Company) has Malted, Milled, Flaked and Mixed since its genesis in 1884.

When we heard that its continuing growth and success was making essential its move to a new site, we sought consent to make Photography, Sketches and Paintings on its sites, both old and new. EDME's staff, in some cases third generation, have been enthusiastic and supportive and thanks are due to EDME (part of the Anglia Maltings Group) for granting us exclusive access for art and photography for the duration of this project which we anticipate taking up to three years.

Our intention is to exhibit and publish the art we make, from the Abstract to the Figurative, miniscule to monumental, ranging from a grain of barley to the grandiose EDME Chimney.

EDME's special ingredients are used in the making of Bread, 'The Staff of Life'

Black & White Portrait Series:

‘Passion. Power. Influence’

People who exercise passion, power and influence with subtlety and thoughtful intelligence are of greater interest to me than those who are, at heart, merely ambitious. I am inviting sitters according to my own idiosyncratic and subjective criteria and greatly appreciate the participants’ enthusiasm for this series. This project is in progress and a gallery will be posted here in due course.
