Michael Waller-Bridge gained his BSc (Hons) in Theoretical Physics from Kent University and a Master's in History of Science & Technology at Imperial College, London followed by postgraduate experience at CERN, the international particle physics Lab based near Geneva. In 1980 having been inspired by artist Rudie Berkhout's early piece "Twelve Milliwatt Boogie" showing at what was then New York's Museum of Holography, Michael began his work in the medium by studying at the New York School of Holography where he was taught by artists Dan Schweitzer and Sam Moree. In 1982 he set up his own Studio in London and work he produced there has been exhibited internationally and acquired for various private collections including the Jonathan Ross Hologram Collection. He also made original pieces commissioned for commercial firms including TV & Film post production company Molinare, Oil exploration group Amerada Hess and the London Stock Exchange. He co-founded and raised funds for an "incubator" associated with Imperial College which for three years supported creative research into colour holography, in holographic displays of medical scans and in "black and white" picture holography. Several patents created with this support were subsequently developed by commercial companies in the USA. While for the next twenty years his curiosity led him into deeper involvement in other fields and adventures, including co-founding Europe's first independent fully electronic stock exchange, his passion for the visual arts drew him back, now to photography.
Michael lives in England with his wife, artist Rosemary Masson.
